Obituary of Gordon Roy Yardley

YARDLEY, Gordon Roy

Gordon passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, August 22, 2018.  He was 94 years of age, and lived a full, productive life.  He worked for the Haileybury Lumber Company as a Millwright at their mill located at Wasach, near Matheson from 1943 to 1953.  He was then employed as a welder for Alarie Brothers in Matheson until he opened his own welding shop, (Gordon Yardley Welding Ltd.).  He was well known throughout the North for his welding skills and the ability to solve and repair just about anything brought to him.  He retired in 1988 and moved to North Bay in 1994, with his wife Phyllis, the love of his life.  Gordon loved to travel and was known for his wisdom and sense of humour.  He was also known among his family and friends for his baking, especially his pies and cookies.   He had a great group of friends he would meet on a regular basis for coffee and social time, as well as many other friends and neighbours that were special in his life.  Beloved husband of the late Phyllis Yardley, nee Welch.  Cherished father of Kathy (Andrew) Barnard, Nova Scotia, and Karen (Monte) Sitts, Parry Sound.  Proud grandfather of Berkley, Bryna, Tracey and by his great-granddaughters Kaiya and Macey.  Cremation has taken place.  As per his wishes, there will be no service at this time.  Interment will take place at a later date.  If desired, donations to the North Bay Regional Health Centre would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
