Obituary of Karen Gail Taylor

TAYLOR – Karen Gail The Taylor family sadly announces the death of their beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Karen, on Monday April 18th, 2016. Karen died at the North Bay Regional Health Centre following a brief illness, a week before her 69th birthday. For the past 50 years she has been the devoted wife and best friend to Myron. The proud and loving mother of Sean (Denise) of Courtice, Ont., and Shannon Unger (Barry) of Callander, she held a special place in the hearts of her grandchildren Tory and Mitchell Unger and Brock and Madison Taylor. She will be sadly missed by her brothers Gary Evans (Ann) of Burlington, and David Evans (Keira) of London. Predeceased by her parents Evelyn (nee Harrington) formerly of Woodstock and Osmond Evans, formerly of Poplar Hill. Karen and Myron will be remembered by many as the owners of the North Bay location of Marks Work Wearhouse, a business they operated together from 1988 – 2003. After her time at the store and while in her early sixties she began a successful career as a real estate agent, serving her clients throughout the area. Those that knew Karen knew her great love and commitment to Myron and her family. They enjoyed countless hours together both working and boating. A civic minded person she recognized the value of giving back to her community. She enjoyed volunteering for many years on the Air Base Property Corporation Board and on the Board of Directors of the North Bay Chamber of Commerce. Her presence filled any room she was in and she was loved by many. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Monday afternoon and evening from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9pm. Funeral services to celebrate Karen’s life will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1:30 pm on Tuesday Apri26. Online condolences at www.martynfh.com. If you wish, a donation in Karen’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society, or the charity of your choice, will be gratefully acknowledged.
