Obituary of John Joseph Doyle

Doyle, John Joseph April 10, 1923 – January 25, 2016 – passed away surrounded by his beloved family at the North Bay Regional Health Centre in his 93rd year. Devoted husband and best friend of 65 years to Mary Doyle (Currie). Loving and dedicated father of a deceased infant son, Carol, John (Kelly), Shannon (Mike), Sandy, Maryanne (Paul). Papa will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Corey, Craig (Steph – deceased), Lindsay (Omar), Michelle, Amanda, Samantha, Michael, Kevin, Daniel, Kathleen and Liam and great grandchildren Sean and Jade. Born in Bunclody County Wexford Ireland, son of Michael and Annie. Survived by sister Anne and sisters-in-law Jose and Yvonne, brothers-in-law Bernie (Joanne), Al (Ellen) and sister-in-law Anne. Predeceased by his siblings Margaret (Jerry), Michael (Mae), Francis (Ted), Thomas (Anne), twin brother Daniel, Patrick, Kathleen( Terry) and brother-in-law Jack. John will be fondly remembered for his warm smile, sharp whit and welcoming arms often accompanied by a song or two. His positive outlook on life and belief in the goodness of people came from his deep and unwavering faith in God. Family was the cornerstone of his life. Whether it was one of his children or a member of his large extended family he took a genuine interest in their lives. He often gave valuable words of wisdom such as “keep the faith”, “if you’re going to do a job, do it right”, and “always fill the ice cream cone right to the bottom.” John was a WWII veteran, a Business Representative for UFCW, an active fourth degree Knights of Columbus, Albanel Assembly. His lifelong work for the church, with Mary at his side, gave him his greatest sense of pride and enjoyment. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Rotondo and the staff at the North Bay Regional Health Center for their compassionate care during his extended stay. Family will be receiving visitors at the Martyn Funeral Home on Wednesday afternoon and evening from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00am on Thursday January 28th at the Pro Cathedral of the Assumption. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John to the Pro-Cathedral Memorial Fund or to a charity of your choice will be gratefully acknowledged by his family.
