Obituary of John William Mackie
After a lengthy illness, Jack passed away on Wednesday, March 25th. Jack will be sadly missed by daughter, Rebecca Pape and grandchildren, Ana and Billy Dracopoulos. Loved unconditionally by his now deceased parents, Joseph Alonzo (Joe) (1918 – 1989) and Mary Helene (nee Haskins) (1922-2015) Jack was born in North Bay on August 26, 1949. Jack’s sister Lonna, North Bay and brother Frank, High River, Alberta will forever treasure their memories of life with Jack. Beloved Uncle of Lenni Jabour (Simon Tuplin), Toronto, Joe Jabour (Heather Taylor) Vancouver, Brandi Ann Mackie, Calgary and Kortni Lyn Mackie, North Bay. Great Uncle to Nadege and Anik Jabour Tuplin and Osirius Black. Jack will also be missed by his many cousins and friends, especially his loving cousins Kathleen Dudson (Eric) and Christine Jenkins (Jim), devoted friends Sharon Hillcoat, Terry Schaefer, Steve, Robyn and Lindsay Margo Williamson, Mike Rathwell, James and Terry-Lyn Christie and Tim Green. A lifelong resident of North Bay, Jack had been in the business of car sales for over 45 years. His loyalty to his family and friends is legendary. He loved animals and nature, a good book, a cold beer, and a laugh. Anyone who knew him well will forever remember his laugh. Funeral Services will be held at Martyn Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 1st at 2:00 p.m. Visitation Tuesday, March 31st from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday, April 1st from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations in Jack’s memory be made to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice Building Fund.
