Passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Friday, July 18, 2014, at the age of 71. Enduring his loss is his loving wife Sandie MacDonald (nee Muir) of North Bay. Beloved father of Andrea Stoppa (Kevin) of North Bay, Natalie MacDonald (Ron) of Ottawa and Darren MacDonald (Kate) of Houston, B.C. Proud grandfather of Alyssa, Brett, Salish, Nyah, Carrie and Ann. Foster brother to the late Armand Chouinor and the late John Buchanan.
After an illustrious career in broadcasting of over 35 years, Clancy ended his radio career in 2001 to become Executive Assistant to MP Bob Wood. Throughout his life, Clancy's commitment to community was evident with his involvement in minor hockey, Crimestoppers, Chamber of Commerce and St. Brice's Church. Clancy was not only a mentor at the radio station, he taught broadcasting at Canadore College. Clancy was diagnosed with a neurological illness called Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). His active family and community life was altered drastically by this illness. He valiantly fought the many debilitating aspects of this cruel disease. He lived his life to the fullest and cherished the treasures he called family.
Friends may call at MARTYN FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday, July 22nd, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. There will be a Masonic service held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 23rd, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Brice’s Church (1225 Cassells Street North Bay). Cremation has taken place at Forest Lawn Crematorium. If desired, donations to St. Brice’s Church or CURE-PSP (cheques only) would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
