Croghan, Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Peacefully with her family by her side in North Bay on Friday, May 16, 2014, she was in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of the late Mervin Croghan. Cherished mother of Carol Anne (Allan) Griese, Linda (Bill) Nielsen, Pat Croghan, Mervin (Martina) Croghan, Larry (Jan) Croghan, Tom (predeceased 2013) (Janet), Betty Jane Mordeen and Maureen Godon. Proud grandmother of Kate (Jeremy), Jade (Sarah-Jane), Jesse (Carmen), Sarah (Clint), Ryan, Lara (Grant), Tim, Darren (Clare), Courtney (Ray), Shane (Korri), Cory (Roger), Jason (Miranda), Brandon (Jessica) and Brittany (Jason) and great-grandmother of 16. Elizabeth started her long and full life in Trimulgherry, India where her father was a Royal Scot. She loved growing up in Scotland, and spent the war years in England. Betty married "Merv" during WWII and moved to North Bay as a war bride. A widow at 45, she remained faithful to his memory. She devoted herself to making a loving home for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their friends. It was always "tea time" and everyone was welcome. Betty also dedicated herself to caring for residents at Cassellholme until her retirement. She enjoyed sitting at the waterfront, listening to music, and loved flowers. She will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her. Respecting Elizabeth's wishes the family will have a PRIVATE celebration of life at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME. Burial will take place at Terrace Lawn Cemetery at a later date. If desired, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Society would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy. Online condolences at www.martynfh.com
