It's not really a story but more of many memories that were shared. She was my mom away from my own mother. She was always in a good mood, full of laughter, her eyes always sparkled and she had so many laugh lines, from smiling to everyone. I think her worst fears were to have Robert, Larry and myself work with her on days as we always managed to get into some kind of trouble or another and as much as I liked her laughing eyes, I sure did not want to see them when she found us getting into trouble.........she could make you feel an inch tall by that one look and seconds later everything was forgiven and she was smilin' again.
On Saturdays, Jean Francis & Betty would do my residents and I would do their hair and make up the old dolls for the weekend. They would love that and we all loved doing it for them. I would bring in my portable hairdryer and rollers, and a bit of 'rouge' for their cheeks and put on their sunday best and the gals would just glow.
Thanks Betty, you were an excellent mentor, friend and co-worker, you were my shining star.. I learned a lot from you and will never forget you my friend! Rest in Peace!

To the Croghan Family, We have such great memories of living next door to the boisterous Croghan family with Betty at the helm. She always had a smile, a story to tell and a twinkle in her eye. Even in our recent visits with her, she still kept us laughing reminiscing of the good old days. The legacy she's left behind is a testament of what a very loved and special lady she was. Our thought are with all her family.

So many memories! Being an only child, the first time Larry brought me to his Mum's for supper, I was overwelmed with all the commotion. So many people!! I met his family and Betty made me feel like "one of her own" I loved going to Mum's for tea and listening to her stories of Scotland and her childhood, her wartime stories were fasinating. I can't imagine what she and her family went through at that time! At least twice a week, Mum would call and say "are you coming for supper, dear? As she dealt out the plates, she knew everyone's like and dislikes, and what everyone took in their "tea"!!!! Simply amazing! I loved sitting by her fireplace and watching "action movies" with her. She loved Van Damm, Chuck Norris and Steven Segal. I remember going down to the basement and the rec-room was dark: the cutout of Chuck Norris scared the bejeebers out of me!!!! I love you, Mum and I miss you. Thakyou for all the wonderful years............... see you later.......
