Whalley – Hazel Elma
After a sudden illness Hazel passed away peacefully at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Monday August 5, 2013 while in her 83rd year and surrounded by all of her family. Hazel was born in Eau Claire on March 27, 1931. The loving partner of Roy Males Hazel was the proud and loving mother of Gloria Kidston (John) of Oakville, Mary Lepkan (Late Wayne) of North Bay, Charlene Hall (Don) of Sundridge, Melody Caldwell (Leona Morin) of Hamilton, Brian Caldwell of Montreal, Trudy Thurlow (John) of Burlington, Ellwood Caldwell (Meredith Buckley) of North Bay, Terry Caldwell of Orleans, Robynne Jamieson (Don) of Burlington, & Rhonda Lepkan (Andrea Binnington of Milton. “Nanny” will be lovingly remembered by her 21 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Dearly loved sister of Don Whalley (late Barbara), Doris McLaren ( late Edgar), Ruth Smith (Fred), Bill Whalley (Simone), & Keith Whalley (Dawn). Predeceased by her parents William and CarrieWhalley, her siblings Ernest Whalley ( late Lila), Robert Whalley (Vienna), Garth Whalley (Shirley), Earl Whalley (late Linda), Lorna Chicquen (late Fred), Sheila Wunsch (Ernie), Gertrude Graff (late James) and Mildred Sullivan (late Carl). Hazel was an active member of the UCW at both Powassan United and Trinity United Churches. She was also a longtime dedicated member of the Rebecca Lodge. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Thursday afternoon and evening from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 pm. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held in Trinity United Church at 11:00am on Friday August 9, 2013. Interment to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. If desired donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Burn Unit at Sick Children’s Hospital, Trinity United Church, or the charity of your choice will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
