As a youth from the age of 10 to 17, I had many occasions to sit at Aunt Hazel's large kitchen table for meals. On one such time, I was handed my plate of food and on it was this strange vegetable which I had never seen or tasted before. It looked sort of like a pea only larger. I was told to at least try it but I didn't like it. Long, long after everyone had finished, I'm still alone at the table with this very offensive green stuff in front of me. Crying my eyes out cuz I wanted to go play with my cousins. Aunt Hazel sits down and consoles me, whispers in my ear "Go Cathy". Well I didn't have to be told twice. As I look back, I see my aunt dumping that horrid green stuff in the garbage. The vegetable was lima beans and I still don't like lima beans but I remember the kindness and compassion of my Aunt Hazel. Rest in peace, dear heart. Love your niece, Cathy Howe
