Obituary of Douglas Brian Church

CHURCH: Douglas July 23, 1960 – April 26, 2013 It is with deep sorrow we announce the sudden death of Douglas, as the result of a motorcycle accident, on Friday April 26, 2013. Doug was predeceased by his parents Dave & Lois Church and niece Lindsay Nesseth. Doug was a retired Flight Engineer with the Canadian Armed Forces and served 30 years in various locations across Canada and abroad. Doug was an avid world traveller, loved to sail, ride his Harley, and fly. He loved all things sports and played hockey from an early age until his knees forced him to retire from the game as an “old timer”. He enjoyed his time on the soccer field and golf course and Sunday afternoon was all about football. Left to mourn him is his loving wife of 31 years Maureen Church, brothers David (Eve) of Ottawa, Richard (Carmen) of Victoria, sisters Valerie Blackmore (Al) of Mississauga, Sue Church of Mitchell and Kathie Nesseth (Dave) of North Bay, as well as many nieces, nephews and all of the MacInnis clan. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 1st, from 2:00 – 4:00 and from 6:00pm until time for services in the chapel at 8:00pm. Cremation will follow with interment of ashes in the National Military Cemetery, Ottawa. In lieu of flowers a donation to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
