If I had to choose a memory of Uncle Gerry...I can't help but go back to the summer of 1979 I think it was when Uncle Gerry, Aunt Betty, Dennis and Bradley came out to the cabin at Pelican Lake south of Brandon, Manitoba.
Uncle Gerry was always a good sport with everything and participated in the opening of the "Senate" with Dad....he was sporting the height of fashion that summer...Mom I think still has the photo of Uncle Gerry in his swimsuit and wearing a "Broca Brella" umbrella hat!
But absolutely the best part of that trip was Sunday mass in Baldur, Manitoba. Uncle Gerry had a "coughing fit" in church that just happened to co-incide with the "choir" doing a rendition of a song that was something akin to killing a cat in public. Aunt Betty pounding on Uncle Gerry's back trying to calm that pesky cough! We all had a good laugh back at the cabin later that day.
If I had to remember anything it was his love of life, it was pure and it was infectious. Wherever Uncle Gerry went there was always a joke, a smile and a laugh. I recall seeing Aunt Betty at a Family Reunion and asking how he was and she told me "Gerry told me to say hello to Richard". He always remembered everyone. He was special in his own way and will be truly missed.
Aunt Betty and all the boys...our prayers and thoughts are with you all.

Uncle Gerald was a wonderful man to mirror in his honesty, humour, family values and fun. We didn't have to visit him when in North Bay, we wanted to visit him. Our kids adored him as did we, and all others that knew him. A huge loss, never forgotten.

Gerry was a legend of the North. He was always willing to give anyone-especially a fellow shoe traveller- a helping hand. Lots of fun to be with and a great joke teller.
