MOLINEUX: Isobel Mary
Isobel Mary Molineux, 101, died suddenly on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, after injuries sustained in a fall. Born December 2, 1910, Isobel grew up in Sudbury as the second eldest of five children in the family of Arthur and Mary Carr. She graduated from Sudbury Collegiate Institute at age 16 and later from the North Bay Normal School. She returned to Sudbury to assume a teaching career and to meet her future husband, Eric E. Molineux. Eric and Isobel moved to North Bay where she has lived for more than 75 years. She enjoyed her career in education and is remembered by many North Bay residents as their classroom teacher at the O'Brien Street and Vincent Massy public schools.Isobel was previously active in the Laurentian Ski Club; CNR, ONR and Gateway Tennis Clubs; the North Bay Granite Club; duplicate Bridge Club and as a volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society. She enjoyed travelling, having been to Europe, China, the Caribbean and down the Amazon River.Isobel was predeceased by her husband and by her parents; by her sisters Evelyn of Ottawa, Rosemary of Toronto and Mabel of Victoria, B.C.; by her brother Arthur of Palmerston; niece Margaret McKeen of Victoria; and her longtime friends Stuart and Win Rosseter of North Bay. She is survived by her son Jim and daughter-in-law Margaret of Big Bay, Ontario; grandson Michael Molineux of Ventura, California and his wife Eva-Maria Harre-Molineux of Warendorf, Germany ; granddaughter Wendy Holyday and her husband Ben of Caledon and by her great-grandchildren Scott and Claire Holyday. She is fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews including Philip Christie of Aylmer; Ann Christie-Teeter and husband Michael of Ottawa; and grand-nieces Emily and Leanne.Isobel will be remembered by family and friends for her sense of humour, raspberry pies, ability in playing bridge, success in teaching young children to read and her enjoyment of a long life. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society care of Martyn Funeral Home or to a charity of your choice. A springtime memorial service will be held at St. Brice's Anglican Church on Saturday, April 28, 2012. Online condolences may be offered at www.martynfh.com.
