Obituary of John Robert Baker

BAKER, John Robert April 3,1957-June 11,2017 John Baker of North Bay Ontario, passed away on Sunday in his home surrounded by his loving family. His brave battle with cancer has come to an end, and he is now free. He will be forever loved and missed dearly by his love Michelle, his sons whom he was so proud of, Dylan and fiancé Casey, Ryan and girlfriend Kaylem, and Simon. Beautiful sisters Carol Barker(Jeff Dunford) and Cathi Baker(Small). Pre-deceased by his parents John and Bobbie Baker. John's humour and shenanigans throughout his life will be greatly missed by his many work friends. An enjoyable 35-year career with Ontario Northland Railway as a Carman, Millwright and Quality Assurance Specialist, and after retirement another 5 years in Montreal working with SNC-Lavalin Rail and Transit at CAD Rail for Metrolinx & Go Transit. He had a great interest and love for photography, sailing in his boat with family and friends, and going on adventures in his little blue sports car. We would like to extend our sincere thank you to the Doctors and Staff at the Northeast Cancer Centre in Sudbury, who bought us some time. The lovely and compassionate Dr. Inez Jinnah and Dr. Paul Preston, for their personal care, Heather McGuinty, Lori Smith, Sarah Janveaux and the Staff at CCAC, who made staying home possible, and all the nurses, Brianne, Craig, Jessie, Jay, Mike and Darren at VON, for providing the most excellent care. Cremation has taken place, and at the families request, there will be no service. If desired, donations can be made in his memory to the cancer charity of choice.
