Obituary of Terry Blair

BLAIR, Eleanor (Terry), nee Fahlgren

Terry passed away June 3, 2024 at the NBRHC after a 4 year struggle with cancer. We would like to thank Dr. Mah, Dr. Jani and the many medical staff members for their care and kindness.

A visitation will be held Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the Martyn Funeral Home.

Terry was predeceased by her parents, Doug and Shirley Fahlgren.

She is survived by her husband, Donald (45 years); her brother Bart Fahlgren (Jennifer) and nephew Trevor; her sister Kathy Thompson (Trevor), nephew Ryan and niece Sarah; Chris Fahlgren (Nancy) and nieces Emily, Alexandra and Ava.

Terry was born in Ottawa January 4, 1953. Her family shortly moved to North Bay.  Terry developed a passion for figure skating and ended up coaching for many years at clubs in North Bay, Espanola and Quebec City.  She took the job of Provincial Coach for the CFSA in Saskatchewan where she lived for 12 years. Terry then moved back home and went back to school earning her B.A. (hon), B.Ed. and M.Ed. She held the following positions at the Near North District School Board, teacher, vice-principal WSS, principal at Port Loring, 2 schools in Mattawa, W.J. Fricker and West Ferris Secondary School. She spent 3 years as a Superintendent and the last 3 years as an Education Officer at the Ministry of Education in Toronto.

Terry loved to travel and had many adventures in Europe and the Caribbean and spent winters in Panama after retirement.

Terry was an active member of the Blue Sky Probus club, the North Bay Bridge Club and especially the Canadian Federation of University Women. Terry lived in Callander for the past 25 years.

Those wishing to make a financial contribution to honour Terry's memory should take a cheque (only) to the funeral home make out to the CFUW North Bay Scholarship Fund.

Terry was an intelligent, beautiful, kind and generous person.  A little light has gone out of our lives. She will be missed and remains alive as long as she in our memories.
