George Arthur Cole
January 9, 1936, Englehart Ontario – January 21, 2023, North Bay Ontario
George passed away peacefully in his sleep at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Saturday, January 21, 2023, in his 87th year.
Beloved husband of Doris Cole (nee Kiehna) for 62 years. Loving father of Jeffrey (Kimberly), Michael (Christine) and Janice (Ross). Cherished poppa of Gregory, Julia, Cameron, Emily, Callen, Braden, and Adeline.
Predeceased by his parents Arthur and Edith Cole of Englehart Ontario, and his sister that he loved dearly, Catherine Blackburn of Kirkland Lake Ontario.
George was a long-time proud employee of the Ontario Northland Railway, an active member of St. Andrews United Church, Past Master of the North Bay Masonic Lodge, community volunteer, the ultimate handyman, mustang enthusiast, conversationalist extraordinaire, and first and foremost, a devoted family man.
George developed life-long friendships everywhere he went, starting with his deep roots in Englehart Ontario where he grew up, to his work around northeastern Ontario and the coasts of James and Hudson’s Bay, his avid travelling, and his long time settling in North Bay where he raised his family.
Forever in our hearts, we will love and cherish our memories of you always and take great comfort in knowing that yours was a life well lived and a life immensely loved.
Friends and Family are invited to a celebration of life at St. Andrews United Church from 2:00 – 4:00 pm on Wednesday, January 25, 2023. (McIntyre Street entrance).
If desired, donations to St. Andrews United Church in George's memory would be greatly appreciated by the family.
The family also extends a heartfelt thank-you to the A-3 nursing staff at North Bay Regional Health Centre for their care and compassion.
