John, Jan and Gerry, I'd like to add to all those who will say what a fine person your mom was. She was honest, funny and truthful. Margueritte was very helpful to me and the people of Emmanuel United Church as a consultant on healthy practices, as chair of Council and even on an overseas trip on behalf of the denomination. She firmly believed that ALL should be welcome in the church and stood up for the marginalized. A unique person! I will miss her and I wish you the best in following in her footsteps.

Gerry, Jan and John,
Our thoughts are with you all as during this trying time. Certainly it is not easy, but know your mom was a special person so full of passion.
I have very fond memories of her and your dad skiing at Laurentian and at Mount Antoine. (I secretly envied your mother's Hanson ski boots.)
We are sorry we can't be there with you on Saturday, but please know we will be thinking of you all.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Martin were always kind, welcoming and had good senses of humour with a tall and clumsy teenager over visiting their son Gerry while we were in high school and university together.
However that is not my most endearing memory.
Away at school in Ottawa I ran myself down and ended up with pneumonia and was seriously ill. I was not knowledgeable or mature enough to get the illness dealt with and I was getting worse.
Mrs Martin heard about it and made sure Gerry accompanied me to the doctor to get the attention and medication I needed and they both help save my year at university!
Much appreciated and always remembered...Patrick Czyz (Victoria, BC)

I am saddened by the loss of Margueritte. I will cherish the memory of my visit to NorthBay and my time visiting with Margueritte at Cassellholme. She was a special lady.
In her honour, I am happy to make a contribution to the Canadian Cancer Foundation, in the hope that those of us carrying on the family traditions can go on a little bit further.
Love to all
Don, Bev, Lyndi and Ian Blackwell
