HASKINS: Joyce

 

Passed away peacefully at the Waters Edge Care Community on Thursday, May 24th, 2018. Joyce Brown was the beloved wife of the late John Alvin Haskins and was 85  years old. She was the loving mother of Lynell Pacey and her husband Doug, Winter Springs, Florida and Mitchell Haskins and his wife Jill Stewart of St. Andrews, New Brunswick. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Aarika (Ricky), Keegan (Maritza) and Stoan (Sondra), her great grandchildren Kemper and Tessa, as well as her many nieces and nephews. Joyce was predeceased by her parents David and Janet “Jean”  Brown, her brother Jack Brown and by her sister-in-law Florence “Toots” Brown. Joyce and John were married in Kirkland Lake on September 6th, 1952. He predeceased her in 1992, and she moved to North Bay in 2002. Joyce worked for Canada Post in Swastika, Chaput Hughes and New Liskeard before retirement.  She was an avid member of The Temiskaming Wanderers and The Gateway Walkers, in North Bay for many years, as well. Joyce has requested a cremation, with interment of ashes in the family plot at Terrace Lawn Cemetery. A time of Fellowship and Remembrance will be held at the Comfort Inn (676 Lakeshore Drive) on Friday September 21st, from 1:00 until 4:00 P.M. Arrangements entrusted to the Martyn Funeral Home. If desired, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada will be gratefully acknowledged.
