Obituary of Mary Jane Dawn

DAWN – Mary Jane ( Jean) It is with great sadness that the family of Jean Dawn announces her passing on the 21st of December , at the age of 91, at Cassellholme. She was born August 22, 1920 in Chatham, Ontario , daughter of the late John and Catherine Banks. She married Roland H. Dawn, November 4, 1939 in Matheson, Ontario. He preceded her in death June 27, 1986 having shared 45 years of marriage. She was a member of the Kapuskasing United Church for many years and enjoyed working with the ladies in the kitchen at numerous events. More recently, she was a member of Trinity United in North Bay where she also helped in the kitchen and as a greeter. She enjoyed lawn bowling, regular bowling, sewing, knitting and baking for her family. In later years, she joined Roly in the game of golf and they had many fun years golfing together, including their retirement years in Fonthill, Ontario. She is survived by her children, Garnet Dawn of Kapuskasing, Louise (Bill) Robinson of North Bay and Linda (Randy) Hutchinson of Combined Locks, WI. Also survived by her sister, Ivy Watt of Kapuskasing, two sisters in law, Hazel Hough of Matheson and Maisie Dawn of Etobicoke. She will be sadly missed by her six grandchildren Wayne, Michael, Rhonda (Sean), Jeff (Alison), Melanie (Jason), Dwight and Diane (Bill) and her six great grandchildren Calder, Carson, Abby, Jim, Rob and Katie. She was predeceased by her husband Roland Dawn, and sisters Ethel Prince and Emma Ladouceur. Jean’s family will receive friends in the Martyn Funeral Home on Wednesday December 28th from 1:30 pm until time for services in the chapel at 2:30pm, with Rev. Ted Harrison officiating.
