Mervin succumbed to cancer, after a brave battle at the age of 78. Celebrated 55 years of marriage with his beloved wife Betty (nee Nicholls). The proud and loving father of Terry (Nicki), Kirt (Carole), Jeff (Betty) & Colleen (Pierre Chaput). Cherished Grampa to Melissa Corbeil (Joel), Natalie, Jennifer (Matt), Stacey (Carrigan), Jesse (Brigitte), Tiffani (Adam), Colton, Josée, Stephane Gauthier (Melissa) and two great-grandsons Jeremie and Christian. One of ten children Mervin will be sadly missed by his siblings Roy (late Barbara), Edith Letts (Russ), Marilyn Barber (Glenn), Delmer (Linda), Ann Sears (Late Ray), Karen Dufresne (Late Bob Ellis & John Dufresne), all of North Bay, and Garry (Denise) of Orillia, and was predeceased by his siblings Shirley Burton (Ralph) and Wayne. Mervin worked in the diamond tool industry since the age of 18. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids whether playing cards or enjoying the outdoors. Many memories made with his family and friends at his cottage on Lake Talon. He was a member of the Cahill Hunt Club where his presence will be missed. Family would like to thank Dr. Senior and the wonderful nurses who provided compassionate care to him at the NBRHC Palliative Care Unit. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Monday, May 23, 2016 from 7 - 9 pm. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held in the funeral home Chapel on Tuesday May 24th, 2016 at 11:00 am. Cremation will follow with interment of ashes in Forest Lawn Cemetery. If desired, donations to Nipissing Serenity Hospice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
