A lifelong resident of North Bay, Ed passed away peacefully at the North Bay Regional Health Center on Monday, November 11. He was the beloved husband of June (nee Beattie), he was in his 88th year. Loving father of Robert Graham and his wife Patti of North Bay and predeceased by his daughter Mary. He was the loving grandfather of Amy Grumme (Peter) of Nelson BC and Tayler Graham of North Bay and great grandfather to Mathaus and Fynnegan.
Ed was educated at NBCINVS and later in life obtained a RIA degree at Carleton University. Ed worked for the North Bay Postal Department as a mail clerk in the office and in the railway mail service.
In 1968, he was hired by the Ministry of Education and moved back to the North Bay area.
He accepted a position with the Nipissing Board of Education as Superintendant of Business Affairs. During this time Ed played an important part in the organization of the enlarged boards which resulted in great changes in education. Ed's quick wit and humor complimented a well recognized financial expertise and made him a leader among supervisory officials.
As well as serving his community through the school board Ed was a long standing member of the North Bay Rotary club and acted as President from 1984 to 1985. During this period he was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship. He is surely to be missed for his organizational skills on Rotary Rose day.
Ed enjoyed his many years of volunteering with the Laurentian Ski Club and helped facilitate the purchase and development of Mount Antoine.
Both Ed and June became "Snow- Birds" after Ed's retirement and enjoyed many good times in the sunshine state.
Up until recently Ed was founder and CEO of the Odd Balls golf group who met regularly at Pinewood.
Ed lived his life with great zest, always first to lend a helping hand and loved building projects. All who knew him enjoyed his great repertoire of funny stories and endless jokes.
