Obituary of Alan Martin Simpson

His family announces with sadness the passing of Alan Simpson at Marina Point Retirement Residence after a lengthy illness, on Tuesday, November 8th, 2011 in his 85th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Gwen for 61 years. Dearly loved father of Deb (Treat Hull) and grandfather of Evan Simpson-Hull, brother of the late Russell Simpson and sister-in-law Jean. His family and friends will greatly miss his strength, gentle nature and kindness. Retired from Bay Distributors, Al was a lover of nature, sports, boating and sailing. For many years he enjoyed leisure time at the family cottage on Lake Temiscaming, entertaining friends and family. He and his wife also travelled extensively in many countries. In WW 2 he served as a navigator in the R.C.A.F. He had been a devoted volunteer at the North Bay Civic Hospital, a member of the Associated Canadian Travellers and the Royal Canadian Legion. The family would like to thank Dr. R. Trenker for his compassionate support throughout Al’s lengthy illness and the CCAC and ParaMed staff for their conscientious care. Cremation and private family service will be held with spring interment at Victoria Harbour Union Cemetery.
