Obituary of Grace Evelyn Fillmore

FILLMORE: Grace Evelyn At Algonquin Nursing Home, Mattawa on Saturday evening, April 19, 2014, at the age of 90 years. Grace (nee Palmer) was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Robb Fillmore, who predeceased her in 1985. The loving mother of Walter Fillmore and his wife Carol of Mattawa and Debbie Chaput and her husband Ronnie of Rutherglen, she will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Jenny (Jason), Michael (Jamie), and Andrew (Amanda), and by her nine cherished great grandchildren. The dearly loved sister of Hilda Darragh, Della Hamel and Bonnie Carter all of Nova Scotia, she was also predeceased by her parents Harry and Jenny Palmer and by her siblings Birdina, Irene, Oscar, Norma and Walter. Grace will be remembered by all who knew her for her beautiful smile. She overcame many obstacles in her life, suffering many falls and broken bones and battling with cancer five different times, and through it all she loved life to the fullest. Never complaining of her own problems she was always concerned for someone else’s troubles. A very special thank you to her son-in-law Ronnie who welcomed and accepted her into their home for the last few years, making her life so much easier and stress free. We will forever miss you Mom, till one day we meet again. May you rest in peace finally, our Amazing Grace. At Grace’s request cremation has taken place. Interment of her ashes in the family plot, Pine Hill’s Cemetery, Mattawa at a later date.
