Dear Nancy, By the time this reaches you John's service will have occurred and perhaps your family members will have gone home. We know that you will have found solace in having loved ones there and no doubt all the kind thoughts folks shared about John. He was a wonderful man! Don and I have been away from the middle of December, but we have been informed of John's passing. We send our sincere sympathy and have been thinking of you these past days. Although we have known that John's illness was terminal, somehow whenever we saw him he seemed still full of life. He was a great example of living each day to the fullest!! His friendly warm smile will stay in our hearts!! Marion and Don

Nancy, John, Greg, Our deepest condolences on John's passing. John certainly touched a lot of people and I am so glad I had a chance to be one of those people. John infused the world with his wit and charm and always gave more then he got in return. I will remember him fondly for many reasons, he never asked anyone to do anything he wouldn't do himself and always showed caring and kindness to everyone. John was a person that I would say helped shaped my life and he will be missed. My thoughts are with all of you during this difficult time. Sincerely, Wendy

Nancy - years ago, you and John kindly helped the kids and I out, by stopping in London at my Mom's home. Some perhaps would think that was a small gesture, but to the kids and I - it was a huge help and help I have never forgotten. It was but one brief meeting in London yet, the impression John made on my brother and sisters was so remarkable that that they remember him still for his kindness, selflessness and sense of humor. They, as do I, send condolences to you and the children. My heart is with you, Nancy.

Had many brief conversations with Mr. Lewis during my high school years while over at the house. Looking back at his track record, it was easy to see why he was such an influential man in my life. He did so many things and only knew how to do them one way, ...great! He had a great family, a great wife with the biggest heart of gold, two sons that were successful in every avenue they chose to go down, and was surrounded by good people, all his life. He was always a giver, and never expected anything in return. Did 'right' by everyone. When put into a position within any of the organizations he was affiliated with, he didn't just do what needed to be done, but did everything well. North Bay was lucky to have a man like this in the community, and his shoes will likely never be filled. My only regret is that I didn't tell him how great he really was, regardless of all of us knowing it anyway. Nancy, John, Greg and family, I share your grief, and my thoughts are with you at this time. Mr. Lewis, will definitely be missed... Mark Woodward and family..

Nancy, John Jr., Greg & families We are so sorry that we will not be able to make the trip from Illinois for John's funeral but know that we will be there in our thoughts and prayers. Sometimes a person comes into your life and makes an incredible impact. That was John Lewis. My gosh he will be missed, especially that little twinkle in his eye. There are no words to describe how much cousin John meant to us. He certainly was a wonderful host - working day and night to get ready for family reunions, even putting up an American flag (under the Canadian flag of course) for his crazy Yankee cousins. There are so many adjectives that describe the type of man John was... thoughtful, loving, funny, steady, calm, kind, generous, etc. but none of them do him justice singularly. God has received a GREAT guy. Also we admire the love and devotion he showed to you Nancy. He truly adored you and had a dozen pet names for you ... again always with that twinkle in his eye. Know that he will be by your side always. Our prayers for strength are with you as you go through the week ahead and face your life going forward. You can do it - all of your friends and family will be there encouraging you forward. Rest in peace John Lewis, we love you! All our love and sympathy. The (Knight/Booker) Brawner & Adelman families.

John will be greatly missed by my family and I. He is one of the nicest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. From helping my brothers and I get our boating licences (at the last minute), brainstorming internet connection woes, offering ice time, emergency rides to town, talks while our families enjoyed the waterfront, to saving my ‘Camp Island’ trip from sure disaster, John… Mr. Lewis was ALWAYS there for us. I remember the intense sparkle in his eye that betrayed his search to offer assistance in any way he could, and his ability to throw out a quick pun, sarcastic statement, or joke in a way only Mr. Lewis could! It makes my heart heavy that we have lost such a great guy, and heavier yet for his family who knew him best.
