This is being written years after Mrs Lamarre's passing.
A password security question just prompted me to think about my grade 3 teacher and I googled her name. It was so nice to see her smiling face!
Mrs Lamarre taught myself and my younger sister at Our Lady of the Airways in Malton in the 1970s. I will always attribute my penmanship skills to her and can clearly remember her cursive writing on our chalkboard.
She was very firm, but kind and her students loved and respected her.
It is 10 years since her passing, and many more since I sat in her classroom in portable 4, but she is fondly remembered, by the Murphy girls and I'm sure countless other students from Our Lady of the Airways.
May she rest in peace,
Catharine Murphy

Sincere Sympathy in your Loss of Millie ... or should I say Miss Sloan ... She was the absolutely BEST teacher I had in elementary school! She taught me in Grade 8 in 1948-49 in Chisholm SS #1! I learned things from her that were more advanced than I met all through High School! I often think of the wonderful boost she gave all of us in our Grade Eight Graduating class and the fact that all four of us in the class achieved First Class Honours on our written Provincial Departmental Examinations was indeed a feather in her hat! I have so many fond memories of her in that year ... and used some of her 'techniques' in my own teaching career! I will cherish fond memories and please accept my sympathy.
