Obituary of Wilfred Herbert Collins

COLLINS: Wilfred Herbert Peacefully at the North Bay Regional Health Center on Monday, April 2nd, 2012, at the age of 90 years. Wilfred Herbert Collins was the beloved husband of the late Jane Rita Estella (nee Haws) who predeceased him in 2003. Wilfred was the dear father of Richard and his wife Brenda of North Bay and Neil and his wife Carol Ann of Edmonton. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Lori, Tracey, Christine, and David and by his great grandchildren Tiffany, Kaitlyn, Ryan, Jordan and Tyler. He was predeceased by his parents the late John and Edna Collins and all of his siblings, sister Hazel Gohr, and brothers Harvey, Jack, and Jim. A veteran of WWII with the RCAF, Wilfred's working career was spent with the CPR. He began as a labourer and eventually earned his qualifications as a Stationary Engineer Second Class. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home (across from city hall) on Wednesday, April 4th from 12noon until time for a Funeral Service to celebrate his life in the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 PM. A Royal Canadian Legion Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday at 2:30 PM. Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery. If desired donations to a Charity of Choice would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy. Wilfred's family would like to thank the VON, the Doctor's and Nursing Staff on C3 at the NBRHC. His son's would like to personally thank Joyce Ridley for looking after their father.
