Obituary of Roderick Morrison

MORRISON: Roderick "Moe" Passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 2nd, 2014 at the West Nipissing General Hospital, he was 80 years old. Beloved husband of Katherine "Kay" Bernice (nee Barker) for the past 45 years, predeceased by his son Brian F. Wiles Morrison and sadly missed by his daughter-in-law Joy. Proud step-grandfather of Peter and Thomas. He was the loving brother of Marguerite Tierney of Scarborough, Catherine and her husband Rod Doherty of North York and Joan and her husband Fred Unan of Don Mills. He was predeceased by sibling Anne, Paddy, Danny, Nelson, Angus and Jackie. Rod was born in Englehart, moved to North Bay and a resident of Jocko Point for 50 years. Rod proudly served on HMCS Haida - G63, on which he sailed around the world. Roddy was a founding member of the Friends of HMCS Haida and a member of the Haida Association. He also belongs to the Canadian Tribal Destroyer Association, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #23 and the 406 Wing. He was always willing to give a helping hand and a very Cape Breton sense of humour which kept everyone laughing. Special thanks to Hugie & Terry for all their help through the years. Family will receive friends at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME on Thursday, November 6, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. There will be a Royal Canadian Legion Service held at 11:00 a.m. Memorial service will be held at Calvin Presbyterian Church at 1:30 p.m. If desired, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
