Obituary of Anne Martyn
She died on her own terms, proud of who she was and accepting of her fate. Her message to her children was that we should not cry for her. She had a good life. She travelled and saw many fascinating places in her life. She was married to a good man, our dad, the late George Martyn for 29 years and they had a happy life together. When Anne died, her children were right there with her, holding her and helping her to move on. Anne and George had four beautiful daughters, Linda Porter (David), Susan Martyn (the late John Adams), Catherine Bourke (Michael) and Ellen Isdale (Graeme) and their son Ian (Jody). She was very proud of us all and we will miss very much, her love and her influence in our lives. She will also be missed by her grandchildren Timothy, Andrew and Megan Porter, Sara, Benjamin and Caroline Bourke, Matthew and Victoria Kourniotis, Zachary, Jacob, Sloan and Rowan Martyn and by many great grandchildren. Her brother John Heighton (Christina) is left to survive her. Predeceased by her ex-husband Jack Smyth. If you wish to join us in celebrating Anne’s life, you can visit with us at Martyn Funeral Home on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. At Anne’s request the funeral service will be private for the family. She will then be cremated at the Forest Lawn Crematorium so that her ashes may be interred with her beloved George at the Terrace Lawn Cemetery. We respectfully request that no flowers be sent. If you wish to honour Anne’s memory with a donation, please consider offering your tribute to St. Andrew’s United Church.
