Obituary of Frederick James Bell

Bell - Frederick James Passed away peacefully in his 82nd year on Saturday, December 27th, 2014. Beloved husband of Anne (Gotlie). Proud and loving father of Donald (Gail) of North Bay, Karen McIntyre (John) of Newmarket, and Norman (Karen) of Ottawa. Loving Grandfather of Melanie (Brian Scott) Cameron McIntyre, Caitlin, Emily, Paige, and Matthew Bell. Devoted Great- Grandfather to Evelyn Scott. Brother of William (Clare) and Allen (Joanne) , Predeceased by his brothers Tom (Donna) and Douglas (Gloria). Fred was an educator. He attended North Bay Normal School and began teaching in Sault Ste. Marie in 1952. He became a respected Elementary School Principal in the Sault before taking a post at the North Bay Teacher’s College in 1965. Joining Nipissing University in 1972 as part of the Faculty of Education he enjoyed a wonderful career. Upon retirement in 1987, he cherished gardening, travel, and most of all his family. We and so many of his friends are sad that he is gone, but at the same time happy to have witnessed and participated in a life lived so fully. Friends are invited to call at MARTYN FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday December 30 from 2- 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. A memorial service will be held in Trinity United Church at 11:00am on Wednesday December 31. Fred will be missed by many. The family would like to thank all the Health Care Professionals for their compassionate care and support.
