My sincerest condolences in the passing of Doreen! I often wonder about everyone at Emmanuel United Church whom I grew to love as my own family when I was secretary there. I just happened to come across this notice and looking at Doreen's picture certainly brings me back to that day I interviewed for the job! She was such a jovial, welcoming person with a warm (sometimes mischievous) smile. My heartfelt sympathy to the family.

My fondest memory of Doreen is her knocking at our door on Gertrude St. to welcome us to the neighborhood and to mention that her daughter Janis was at about the same pregnancy stage as I was (Nick was born in Sept. 81 and Dimitra in October 81). From that time onward, Janis and I became friends. We had many a walks and many a talks - she went on to marry Lawrence and I went on to marry Julius and the rest is history............ Here we both are grandmothers and happily looking towards our golden years surrounded by special people who love us. Doreen was always happy to see myself and the girls at Emmanuel United Church where we attended until moving to the Kitchener/Waterloo area in 1997. Even on our many treks back up north to visit, we often saw the happy smile and felt the loving embrace of Doreen as we were welcomed back on our visits. Love you Doreen, may you rest in the eternal peace of God's loving arms.xoxox

Remembering Grandma Berry - a special lady who made our lives more fulfilled. We will always treasure her stay with us in Calgary in 2000, spending most of her time cradling baby Arden. Since we can't be in North Bay to say goodbye, we will raise our glasses in honour of a beautiful woman and a life well-lived. We are so happy to have had the honour of calling her grandma!
