Passed away with his family by his side at Nipissing Manor on Sunday April 1, 2012 at the age of 91 years. Dear husband of Doris. Loving father of Jennifer Greenham (Donald) of Addison, Ontario, Wendy Fuller (Roy) of Nepean, Ontario and Bruce (Rosanne) of Calgary, Alberta. Sadly missed by grandchildren Tracy Bradley, Scott Greenham, Katherine Root, Ken Fuller, Matthew Gigg and Laura Gigg and great grandchildren Cullen Bradley, Darrah Bradley and Danika Root. Survived by his brother Edmund Gigg of Ottawa. Biff was a very active member of the North Bay Community. He worked for the City of North Bay as Welfare Administrator and Purchasing Agent and was a council member for 5 years. He was a member of the North Bay Horticultural Society, the Kiwanis Club, Royal Canadian Legion Br. 23 and the 406 Wing. Biff was also an active life member of St. John’s Anglican Church. Many will also remember him as an avid participant in the local sports community and his contributions to sports in the area earned him an induction to the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame. On three separate occasions, Biff acted as chauffeur to 3 Governors General on official visits to North Bay. He was presented to Princess Elizabeth on her visit to the city in 1951 and spoke with her as Queen Elizabeth in 1997. In 1999, Biff was the recipient of the International Year of Older Persons award for the District of Nipissing in recognition of his contributions to the community. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church on Thursday at 11 am. Cremation to follow at the Forest Lawn Crematorium. If desired donations to St. John’s Anglican Church or Nipissing Manor would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
