Obituary of Norman Charles Edmunds
Edmunds, Norman Charles (November 22, 1927- Nov 19, 2012). Beloved husband of 63 years to Olive (Ollie) Edmunds (nee Cummings). Dear father to Barbara Edmunds of Calgary, Bill Edmunds (Annette) of Sudbury & Bruce Edmunds (Liz) of Kincardine. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Kelly and Kim Wamsley of Calgary, Rhonda Contant (Charles) of Callander, Donna Rocca (Phil) of Sudbury, and 7 great-grandchildren. Precedeased by his brother Brian Edmunds (Leona) and his sister Kae Cameron (Don). Norm began his career with the Ontario Northland Railway in 1947. He joined the West Ferris Fire Department in 1953 as a volunteer and accepted the first full time position of Fire Chief in 1957. Upon amalgamation with North Bay in 1967, Norm became the Chief Training Officer for North Bay. He retired from the fire department in 1987. Norm dedicated countless hours of his time as a volunteer with the West Ferris Minor Hockey Association during the sixties and seventies. His commitment and generosity were recognized by having been honoured as a lifetime member. There will be a private family service followed by interment of ashes at Forest Lawn cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Norm’s life on Friday, November 23rd from 2-4:30pm and 7-9pm at the home of his granddaughter, 38 Marine Drive in Callander. The family wishes to thank Dr. James Stewart and the staff at NBRHC for the kindness and compassion shown to Norm and his family during his stay. In lieu of flowers, donations to the North Bay Santa Fund (cheques only) would have pleased Norm.
