Casual visits on the deck in summer. Ice cream cones from an "grandmother." Where's Alwyn? Sitting quietly on the front porch by Aunt Barbara, having had her treats, the two enjoying some quiet contemplation and the odd word. Inspiration for a loft. The keeper of keys for those locked out of their cottage. Courage and acceptance -- "What can you do?" Pleasure in small things -- baseball and hockey games on TV; Chicken Soup books; word searches; watching the lake in summer and winter; the dates the ice went out. So much more and very much missed.
