Obituary of Ernest Romain
ROMAIN – Ernest “Ernie”
Peacefully at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, on Wednesday May 4th, 2016, at the age of 100 years. Ernie was the beloved and devoted husband of Mary Katharine, who predeceased him in 1994. Survived by his son Kelly, he was also predeceased by his four sisters and two brothers. During the war Ernie enlisted in the Ontario Tank Corp and he was given an honourable discharge following an injury. He worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway in Engine Services for 35 years, out of Chapleau. Following his retirement he moved to North Bay. For several years he volunteered with the Heritage Railway. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M and the Rorab Shine Club. Ernie spent the last several years as a resident of Empire Living Center and was most appreciative of the service and care that he received. Friends may call at the Martyn funeral Home on Saturday afternoon, May 7th from 12:00pm until time for services in the chapel at 2:30pm. Cremation to follow with interment of ashes in Forest Lawn Cemetery. If desired donations to the Shriner’s Hospital for Sick Children, Montreal, will be gratefully acknowledged.
