Obituary of Ethel Eunice Klus

Please share a memory of Ethel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Klus, Eunice The family of Eunice Klus sadly announces Eunice's death at Cassellholme on Mother's Day, May 13, 2012. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some small way during a very full and memorable life. She was in her 94th year. Born November 27, 1918, Eunice was the daughter of Roe Anna Ferris and Wilfred Meadows. She was predeceased by her siblings: Roy (Ethel), Clare (Elaine), Daisy Graham (Eldon) and Ada Anderson (Edric). She was predeceased by her husband Nick Klus in 1987 and by her eldest son Fred in 1993. Eunice is survived by her daughter Roe-Enid Boudreau (George), her son David (Trisha), and daughter-in-law Marie. She will be cherished by her seven grandchildren: Mark Boudreau (Anita), Lisa Boudreau, Josee and Andrea Klus, and Nickolas, Arianna and Natashya Klus; and one great granddaughter: Grace Klus. Several nieces and nephews will fondly remember her. Eunice spent her early childhood on a farm in Feronia and then enrolled at NBCI&VS in North Bay and while attending there she met and later married her husband Nickolas Klus in 1938. They would enjoy 48 years of marriage. In 1943 they settled in Temiscaming, Quebec where they would raise their three children and take an active part in the community. Eunice attended St Paul's UC where she taught Sunday School and Explorers and was an active member of The UCW. She was a member of Nietta Rebekah Lodge and also volunteered her assistance in the recreational activities for local children with special needs. She often hosted Sunday dinners to the new teachers in town who didn't have a permanent home. She and Nick loved to dance and they would often drive out to McCoys on Saturday evenings and dance the night away to Vic Virgili's music. Eunice enjoyed fishing and they spent many enjoyable days at their summer camp at Bois Franc along with their grandchildren. She and Nick moved to North Bay to retire. They joined The North Bay Lapidary Club, making new friends on their field trips to mines and old quarries in Northern Ontario and Quebec and as far as Quartzite, Arizona. They joined The Golden Age Club and Bowling League. Eunice attended Trinity UC and made many new friends through the Friendship Group. After her husband died she continued to bowl with her sister Ada and they would always finish their day with a good game or two of Cribbage. She continued to create Lapidary jewelry until arthritis took over. She also continued to write poetry and she would often compose a piece to commemorate special milestones/achievements of family and friends dear to her. She enjoyed wildflower arranging and her winning ribbons from Horticultural Shows exemplified her talents. Eunice was an avid walker and you could be sure to be greeted by her warm smile from under her signature hat which was tipped just precisely so. One of her favorite poems was If by Rudyard Kipling and it gave her much motivation for a life filled with zest. Eunice's family will receive friends in the Martyn Funeral Home on Thursday, May 17th from 12:00 noon until time for services in the chapel at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Ted Harrison officiating. A special thank you to Cassellholme staff for the care and compassion extended to her during her 3-year stay. Also, a very special thank you to Ann Clarke and Claudette Depencier for your devoted friendships and continuous visits - she so enjoyed you both. If desired, donations to Trinity United Church or the charity of your choice will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy. Online condolences www.martynfh.com
