Obituary of Ewart Mercer Blackmore

BLACKMORE – Ewart Mercer Peacefully at Nipissing Manor Care Giving Centre on Tuesday May 29, 2012, at the age of 93 years. Ewart was the beloved husband of the late Florence Elizabeth Rowse, who predeceased him in 1985. The proud and loving father of Michael of Thorne, Ont., Pamela of Chateauguay Centre, Quebec, and David of North Bay, he will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Jeffrey (Stefanie), Tracey (Shawn Desjardins) and Brent (Kelsey Pauquette) and by his great granddaughter Tyra Perrier. He was predeceased by his brothers Alfred and Bert. Ewart was a proud veteran, serving in the army overseas during WWII. Following the war he began his career as a millwright at the CIP paper mill in Temiscaming, retiring from Tembec in 1983 after many years of service. The Blackmores were long time residents of Thorne, moving to North Bay following Ewart’s retirement. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon, June 3rd from 1:00 pm until time for funeral services in the chapel at 3:00pm. Internment in Forerst Lawn Cemetery on Monday.
