Obituary of Arnold John Simon

SIMON – Arnold “Sonny” March 28, 1943 – February 1, 2017 Sonny’s family sadly announces his passing at the Mattawa Hospital on Wednesday February 1st, at the age of 73 years. Best Friend and companion of Irene (nee Therrien) Chauvin. Loving and caring Dad to Tasha (Jason) of North Bay and Bernice (Bob), Patricia (Dan), Dennis, of Kitchener Waterloo, and Marcel (Jean) of Sault St. Marie. Predeceased by Marc Chauvin. Grampa will be lovingly remembered by Julia and Gavin, Tara(Ryan), Melissa (Mike), Greg (Alex) and four great grandchildren, River, Mason, Karlee and Logan. Sonny was a dear brother to Irene Simon Perrier, of Kipawa and Delia Ranger of Mattawa, both predeceased. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to share stories and celebrate his life at the Martyn and Sloan Mattawa Chapel on Sunday afternoon and evening from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Father Mitch Beachy in Ste Anne’s Church at 11:00am, Monday February 6th. Spring interment Ste Anne’s Cemetery. Sonny was born and raised in Mattawa. It was important to him to give back to his community. Donations to the Mattawa Splash & Play Project, or the Mattawa Food Bank would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
