I did not keep in touch with Carole over the years, but I appreciate her deeply and remember her so fondly as an excellent teacher and an encouraging colleague. I only taught for a few years at Sunset Park, in the early 90s. I was a nervous rookie teacher, taking over a grade one class next door to Carole. She reassured me and offered me all her resources to get me started. Carole was an excellent teacher and I learned a lot from watching her. She loved her students. She could laugh at challenges and face them head on. She was fun to be with. She would make time in a busy day to give advice and support.She had a beautiful smile and a bubbly personality. I truly enjoyed listening to her talk about her children and how they were the lights of her life. Dear Roger and family, Gerry & I are so sorry to hear of Carole’s passing. I had heard that she had cancer, and we were hoping that she would pull through. I have such good memories of her, how she laughed, her beautiful smile. I went to the same school as Carole, although it was Roger that was in my classes. Later, I got to teach with Carole in Hamilton. The last time that we saw each other, quite a few years ago, she spoke fondly of Roger and the kids. Family life kept her very busy, and very happy. Our thoughts are with you. We hope that the love and kindness of family and friends help you through these days ahead, to remember the beautiful person that was Carole.

I'm a blast from the past in Carole's life. I haven't forgotten and never will the good times we shared at "The Cousins Only Reunion" camping trips, her contagious laugh and loving eyes. I am lucky and honoured to be able to say " I knew Carole Alida Marie Hamelin"

We meet many people during our life. (I met Carole during my 4 yrs in high school at Georges P Vanier.)But only few bring an automatic smile to our face when you think of them. And Carole was definitely one of those very special people. Her smile and laughter was contagious and lid up any room she walked in. There was this special glow about her. So this earth angel has gone to her eternal home in heaven, free from pain. Roger, Andrew and Alexandra, you will forever feel her with you, as she will never leave you and all her loved ones. You may even be blessed enough to feel her embrace, to hear her voice or her laughter, or even smell her perfume. She'll be around. Such an Angel will always be with you. Keep her alive through your smiles, always. I'm sure that's what she'd want. My heartfelt condolences to all of you. God bless.
