Just now on return from holidays, I learned of John's passing into spirit. Brenda and Mrs McLay, please accept my condolences. Sixty-three years is a long lasting relationship. You will miss him ... and Brenda, I know you were very bonded to your Dad. I remember the two of you coming to worship at Carmichael UC when I led services from time-to-time there. Bless you .. as you make the transition into a new relationship in the spirit, with him. Peace be with you and of course, with John.

I see you first during Brenda's teenage days
A smile, a shining soul, pleasant warm ways
Then many good years slipped past
Until this memory struck & held fast
I see Ivy & you in the church choir singing
A hymn that has my head still ringing
'Jesus bids us shine with a pure clear light
Like a little candle burning in the night'
Well, John, Jesus is smiling alright
He sees your pure clear light
I see you during Brenda's young adult days
Same shining soul, same warm ways
88 years young
88 keys make the piano one
You played a note a year
Sweet music to the ear
All through your life's long days
Same shining soul, same warm ways
So I dub thee Johnny 88
Now in a light-being state
For when Brenda tickles those ivories
And sings for Mother Ivy
You'll be listening, my friend
To her talent which God did send
I see you watching over our days
Same shining soul, same warm ways
So we'll soon see you Johnny 88
With St. Peter at the Golden Gate
Then we'll reach those notes way up higher
As we join you in the Heavenly Choir
I see you 'at ease' for eternal days
Same shining soul, same warm ways
For Ivy, John, Bonnie, Brenda, Johnny 88, family & friends
Love & Light Grant July 2016
