Obituary of Doreen Therrien
It is with profound sadness that the Therrien family announces the peaceful passing of their mother, grandmother Doreen (nee Minor) on April 8, 2016 at the Mattawa hospital at the age of 85 years. Beloved wife of the late Donald Therrien (pre deceased in 1998) and precious son Larry (pre deceased in 2009). She was cherished and adored by many, and leaves behind family & friends who will miss her dearly. Survived by her son Harold and wife Sylvie of Mattawa, daughter in law Joanne (partner Michael) of Sudbury. Grand children, Jason (Pam), Graham (Melanie), Shannon (Kordell), Lee, Lyndee (Nicholas) and great grand children Lennox, Larsen, Connor, Kale.
Dearly beloved sister of Iris Burton of Cartier. She was predeceased by her parents Leon and Evelyn Minor and her siblings Maggie, Nelson,Leo,Vera and Merril.
Doreen was born and raised in Mattawa and moved to Cartier with Donald to work and raise her family and recently returned to her roots in Mattawa. Mom never shied away from a game of crib, euchre or 500 (but never for fun). Her love of music and cooking (sea pie and butter tarts) will be missed by all who knew her. Doreen's faith was very important to her , and it is this faith that guided her through some trying times. She was a dedicated member of St Francois Xavier parish in Cartier and St Anne's parish in Mattawa.
Visitation will be held in the Martyn & Sloan "Mattawa Chapel" on Wednesday April 20th from 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm. A mass in the presence of cremated remains will be held at St.Anne's Roman Catholic Church on Thursday April 21st at 11:00 am.
Doreen's ashes will be interred in the family plot later this spring. If desired, donations to either the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by Doreen's family. Online condolences at www.martynfh.com.
