Al passed over to be with Jesus his Lord and Saviour on April 3rd at Nipissing Manor Nursing Care Centre in Corbeil, ON.
Born on December 21, 1934 in Machar Township, Parry Sound Dist., Ontario, to Emma and Henry Erven, now deceased.
Al retired from The Ministry of Transportation in 1990, as Senior Municipal Foreman after 35 years of service, and also retired as Captain for the North Himsworth Volunteer Fire Dept. in 1995 after 30 years.
He then worked at restoring old automobiles, making maple syrup and setting up the cottage on Eagle Lake to enjoy with his kids and grandkids.
Al is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jolene (nee Chadbourn), two brothers Clifford (Jane) and James (Sandy), and two sisters Lois and Arlene as well as his children Nadene (Darren), Charles (Louise) and Dwayne (Beth) and grandchildren Zachary, Alexander, Craig, Brayden and Ethan.
Visitation at the Martyn Funeral Home on Friday April 8 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm and again at Lakeshore Missionary Church 10-11am on Saturday April 9. The funeral service will be held at Lakeshore Missionary Church, (656 Lakeshore Dr., North Bay) at 11am followed by a luncheon. Spring interment at the Callander Union Cemetery. If desired, donations to the Parkinson Canada or to Hope Awaits Ministries, North Bay (home for homeless men in North Bay) would be appreciated by Al’s family.
