Obituary of Nancy Bernice Ferguson

Passed peacefully at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on December 1, 2015 in her 76th year. Predeceased by her parents Edith and Thomas Earl Sache. Born in Kirkland Lake on February 27, 1940, Nancy graduated from Algonquin Composite High School in 1958. She graduated in Honours Journalism from the University of Western Ontario in 1962, winning a silver award for journalism. Nancy worked as a student with The North Bay Nugget, as editor with the Addictions Research Foundation then went to the University of Toronto for a teaching certificate. She taught English in Toronto and North Bay, most recently at Canadore College, Nipissing Community School (Adult Centre), and Chippewa Secondary School. Her passion at work was adult education. She was actively involved in the community including being former local president of the Canadian Club and a member of the Canadian Federation of University Women. Survived by her husband Gary, her children Edward, Jonathan (Zoe), Greg (Christine), Kristen (Andrew) and her nine grandchildren: Joseph, William, Michael, Kurtis, Brent, Matthew, Malcolm, Clark, and Gabrielle. She loved curling, reading a good crime novel, the sun and beach, spending time at the cottage, and of course, her cats and family. Nancy will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. We will miss her everyday. Donations can be made to the North Bay Humane Society, the Canadian Federation of University Women Scholarship Fund, or the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation - Renal Unit. Visitation to be held at from noon to 2 pm on Saturday, December 5, followed by a service at 2 pm at Martyn Funeral Home.
