Locking, Edward Philip George “Ed”- (Retired Secondary School Teacher with Nipissing School Board for 30+ years) Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at North Bay Regional Health Centre in his 80th year, following a valiant battle with cancer. Ed will be missed by his loving wife of 53 years, Rachelle (nee Lafrance). Dear father of Brian (Ruth) and Linda (Jim). Proud grandfather of Abigail and Matthew, of Ottawa, and Duncan and Andrew, of Lindsay. Predeceased by his parents, Harold and Constance (nee Warner) and his sister, Sharon. Ed’s lifelong love of learning and curiosity about the world was forever a source of pride for his family. He was particularly fond of spending quality time with his grandchildren. Ed was a talented, self taught carpenter, dabbling in everything from furniture, cedar strip canoes to small wood carvings and toys for his grandchildren. His ongoing interest and time spent researching his family’s genealogy leaves a wonderful legacy for his family. Over the years, Ed also enjoyed the company of several 4 legged companions, Candy, Taz and Tyson. At Ed’s request, no visitation or memorial service will be held, other than a private family one, followed by cremation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the North Bay Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
