It is with great sadness the family of Barbara announce her passing, on Friday, October 2nd, 2015 at Cassellholme. Barbara Doris (nee West), was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Douglas Clare Treleaven, she was 87 years old. She was predeceased by her dear son David. Loving mother of Dan Treleaven and his wife Heather of North Bay, Laurie D’Amour and her husband Claude of Barrie, Denise Cote and her husband Brian Emms of Tilden Lake and Bob Treleaven and his wife Barb of Hanmer. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Chad (Jessica), Maegan (Jesse), Kendra (Travis), Kayleigh (Shawn), Jaiden (Jeff), Eric, Jeffrey (Sophie), Alicia (Josh), Taylor, Karly and great grandchildren Cadence, Marley, Charlotte, Maximus, Elijah, Laela, Nixon, Kennedy and Carson. She will be sadly missed by her siblings David West (Marion), Ronald West and Patricia Khaze. Barbara opened the Barbara Treleaven School of Dancing in 1954 in Burks Falls and re-located to North Bay in 1958. During the 1970’s, she established the dance section of the North Bay Kiwanis Festival and founded and directed the Artsperience Dance Program at Canadore College. Barbara was honoured as “Woman of the Week” in 1991 and in 2004 was inducted as one of the first members of The Musicians and Entertainers Hall of Recognition. She is a life member of Canadian Dance Teachers Association and served as National president and examiner. In July 2009 she received the prestigious “CDTA National Award” for her years of devotion and service. Many former students are enjoying dance careers including her daughter Denise who owns and directs the studio. A Celebration of Barbara’s Life will be held at the Elk's Club on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. If desired, donations to Community Living North Bay would be appreciated by her family.
