Dale and I are saddened by the loss of Emmanuelle whom we knew through many years of Masters ski competitions as a friendly and optimistic woman of great athletic skill. While I was President/National Director of the Canadian Masters Cross Country Ski Association, Emmanuelle was our volunteer translator for each newsletter we issued. Her assistance and friendship was much appreciated. As mentioned by Shirley, there were many adventures. I remember sharing a room in Lab City with her and Emmanuelle for Masters races many years ago and we had a lot of fun, even walking over to Wabash to view a local craft show. She will be missed by everyone who has had the privilege to know her. Our condolences to her family and other close friends.

My condolences to the Gunter family on the loss of Emmanuelle. I met your Mom in 1973 when she and your Dad played badminton at the North Bay club. As a teenager both your parents made us feel welcome to play with the adults at the club. years later we would meet at the Nordic Ski Club and I enjoyed catching up with Emmanuelle. May she rest in peace.

Remembering a dear friend with whom I shared many adventures and good times over many many years. I will miss her warm and generous friendship. I am so sad knowing we will never meet again on a start line, share a meal and a glass of wine, or spend time with our mutual friends. We have all had our lives enriched by having Emmanuelle in our lives. My deepest sympathies to her beloved family. I am sorry to be so far away and not able to be present for the celebration of her life.....a life full and well lived. Know my thoughts are with you all as we share this sorrow. I knew Emmanuelle for several years through the Masters Cross Country Ski program, and she and I had a friendly rivalry via it, though I don't think I ever beat her! As well, I had the pleasure of seeing her at various competitions, including Italy in 2006, Idaho in 2009, and at Sovereign Lake, BC in 2011. She was always a fierce competitor on the snow, but a real and modest lady afterwards. I will always miss her hearty laugh and her warm smile. May she rest in peace.

When I was very young...many years ago...ha ha...I remember going to Grandma Gunter's home for a visit one day. I was probably only about 6 years old. It just so happened that Aunt Emmanuel was there and Uncle Fred. They were sitting around the kitchen table eating some delicious looking, creamy, smooth pudding-like substance. Eagerly I accepted a bowl of this food and thought..Oh Wow..it's going to taste just like vanilla ice-cream...dessert before lunch! It's called yogourt said Aunt Emmanuel , and I believe it may have been homemade but I am not sure. One big spoonful went into my mouth....and that's when I think I discovered my gag reflex! It was soooo sour! Ha , ha , ha. My taste for French cuisine did not exist at that point. However years later when I lived and worked in North Bay...I was invited to their home for supper and for some family time on a few occasions. Emmanuel was a wonderful cook and hostess...and my appreciation for French cuisine improved considerably. I enjoyed the company of Uncle Fred and Aunt Emmanuel ....you could always see the respect and adoration they had for eah other when in their prescence and they shared that love with those who entered their home. Au Revoir Aunt Emmanuel.
