Obituary of Margaret Mildred Chapin

Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Friday, June 5th, Margaret M. (Peggy) Chapin slipped away surrounded by her family. Beloved wife for 61 years of the late Laurence C. Chapin (d. 2012). Loving mother of Joanne (Curtis Cole), James (Nancy Hamlyn) and David (Catherine). Adored grandmother of Ryan and Christen Cole, Meaghan, Joshua, Melissa and Michelle Chapin and Benjamin and Serena Chapin. Mom was the fifth child of William F. and Gwendolyn Hussey - the middle child in a family of nine brothers and sisters. The Hussey clan was tightly knit and we grew up with close relationships and frequent visits with our aunts and uncles. Peggy will be deeply missed by her siblings Molly, Betty, George and Dorothy. Predeceased by Eleanor, Gordon, Fred and Warren. With many aunts and uncles came many cousins and we all enjoyed happy times over special meals, at the Prior cottage and at our various homes where ping pong tables served as huge dinner tables as we feasted on our family's favourite dishes. Mom was also predeceased by Dad's two brothers William and Clifford Chapin. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews in both the Chapin and Hussey families. Mom always put her family first and we enjoyed a wonderfully supportive home life with both of our parents. As grandchildren came along Mom and Dad embraced that phase of her their lives with great pleasure. Each one of their eight grandchildren had a special relationship with Grandma and Grandpa who happily attended sports games, concerts, plays, festivals and in time, graduations. Mom was also a great friend to many. She grew up in Lakeview, ON and she and Larry made many friends as they made their way to Toronto and the GTA, Owen Sound and eventually North Bay. She was known to many friends and neighbours fondly as "The Duchess," and Dad was ever her doting mate. Our home was often a place for parties, backyard BBQ's, pool parties and dinners. Mom was a lifelong gardener, reader and shopper - she loved clothes and shoes! We are grateful for the care Mom received on Apple Street at Cassellholme in North Bay and for the friendship she and Dad enjoyed during their time at Marina Point. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 20th at 1:30 p.m. in the Wyevale United Church, 846 County Rd 6 S, Tiny Township, ON L0L 2T0; Interment at Wyevale Community Cemetery; followed by a reception at the Wyevale United Church. Funeral arrangements, Martyn Funeral Home, North Bay. Expressions of sympathy to Alzheimer's Society of Ontario or the Canadian Cancer Society are appreciated. Online condolences at www.martynfh.com
