It was my pleasure to meet and work with Candy at CJ13 in Sylvan Lake, Alberta. I have fond memories of Candy. This wonderful lady always had a smile and a kind word. Candy piped in most mornings of camp at our Triceratops Sub Camp. Candy had a big hug to greet me at Gilwell Reunions and the National Summit in Toronto. Candy will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with Candy's friends and family at this time.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the Stott family with the loss of Candy. She was an incredible person with the deepest of character and one whose smile was seen by whomever she met. Some of our fondest memories of Candy were when we were witness to her incrediable display of talent when playing the bagpipes. The image of Candy playing the pipes at Matt and Meribeths wedding was phenomenal and we will be in perpetual envy of her talents. She will be forever remembered as someone who brought a smile to those she met and left them with a feeling of happiness for having the opportunity to meet her. The days and months ahead will not be easy but we would like for the Stott family to know that the Kirkwood family is here in everyway imaginable to support you. Our deepest sympathies; Dave, Amy , Ross, Jane and Gord Kirkwood.

Deepest condolences to Candy's close family and friends. I worked with Candy with the NPSCDSB. She was a fiercely passionate person and I loved her honest and no nonsense approach to dealing with challenges and people. Candy always had a smile for me and was always ready to welcome any occasional teacher into the staff room and classroom. You could tell just by being in a room with her for 5 minutes that she had an incredible zest for life. I am in awe of her commitment to Scouts Canada. Thank you for always sharing a smile and reassuring comment. Tamara Bass-Taggart

I first had the pleasure of meeting Candy when she took her Woodbadge II in Scouting. That year, when she attended her first reunion, she came bounding across the field yelling "I'm here!!!". This image has stayed with me since then. She was always so compassionate, so caring, with a heart of gold. She was a very dedicated member of our Gilwell Club, and will be missed. We loved to hear her play the bagpipes. Candy, you will be missed. I can see you now, arriving at the pearly gates, saying "I'm here"....

I am so saddened to hear that Candy is gone. I thought she was just wonderful! She worked in my kindergarten classroom a few times and she was such an amazing support. The children just loved her too. What a kind and generous soul she was; she was loving and compassionate, always smiling and positive. She will be greatly missed.

Candy is one of those people whose appearance at many various events no longer surprised me. Funerals and weddings, worship and parades, Legion events, concerts, and scotch-tastings-- there she was! Usually she was in her full highlad regalia, attached to her bagpipes, smiling and enthusiastic!
I marvelled at the Spirit of service and comeradery-- the love and faithfulness, humour and sarcasm, one always suspected that there was a benign inside joke at play.
Candy will be missed. She was a blessing and a lover of life who brightens my heart still. God bless her memory and her family and her many circles of care.

So surprised and saddened by the lost. Will miss our little alto, that bright sun ray in the first row. We already see her kicking up a storm, blowing those pipes, singing with the angels and singing scout songs around a heavenly fire. Our prayers and thoughts will always be with you and your family.

Please accept Bev's and my prayers on the going home of Candy. Remember first meeting Candy while she led her Widdifield Pack meeting. She was a dedicated Scouter who easily became a friend, mentor and confidant to many in the scouting area. Her infectious smile, bubbly personality, love of a good practical joke plus her never ending commitment to the youth. No will ever forget being woken up to her beautiful Bagpipe music so early in the morning. Candy my Friend your work in this earthly form has ended here on earth; you have departed for Home my you find a much deserved rest with plenty piping. Signed Red Trowsdale.

My deepest sympathies for the loss of such a fabulous woman. I met Candy in 2003 at band practice when I moved to North Bay. She was very welcoming and thrilled about another female piper in the band. She was always encouraging and uplifting. Every single time I saw her, she put a huge smile on my face. Candy will be missed by many. xo I'll play a tune for you Candy :)
