Obituary of Georgina Apostolakis
It is with heavy hearts that Georgina's children announce her passing on February 09, 2015, at Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, Oakville, Ontario, in her 87th year. Georgina was predeceased by her husband Emmanuel (Mike) Apostolakis (1957-1997). Loving mother of Irene Katsiapis (Dimitri Stamatakis), Leonard Apostolakis, Hristaki Apostolakis, Mary Desrosiers (Gerry) and Evangelos Apostolakis (Joanne). Grandmother of Kostakis Katsiapis (Ashleigh Gillan), Emmanuel (Manoli) Katsiapis (Megan), Jenna Apostolakis (Lloyd Turbitt), Nikki-Marie Apostolakis, Kristina Apostolakis, Jordan Desrosiers, Emma Desrosiers, Georgia Apostolakis and Evyenia Apostolakis. She was the great-grandmother of Thomas Kostakis Katsiapis. Extended family members include Takis Katsiapis and Irini Clelland of North Bay, as well as family members in Crete, Greece. Georgina was predeceased by her parents, Evangelos and Irini Galanaki, her brother, Dimitri Galanaki and her sister, Maria Galanaki. Georgina was born in Houdesti, Crete, Greece on March 01, 1928. In 1954, she emigrated to Canada and made North Bay, her home. Many residents in North Bay will remember Georgina for having long braided hair. In 1958, after marrying her husband, Georgina and Mike owned and operated The Green Rooster Restaurants and The You & I Steakhouse. The Apostolakis family will receive visitors at Martyn Funeral Home on Friday February 13, 2015 from 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Saturday February 14, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
