I am very sorry to learn of David's passing. We shared some interesting dinners talking about the "Gibson" side of his family. We eventually sorted it out that we were not related ;) He was a top flight insurance professional who led others by the example he set. He will be deeply missed. Dave and I were fraternity brothers at the University of Toronto. Prior to our last year I had the privilege of travelling with him to Denver for a North American conference of that fraternity. We rode the train out thinking that would be an adventure we might not get to enjoy again and had a great time meeting and talking to our fellow travellers in the lounge car. In that car we also had our first tasting of Coors, a regional brewery at that time with a reputation for making a craft-like beer. We might have tried a few to make sure we remembered the taste. Since then our paths have crossed periodically at fraternity events. I always looked forward to catching up. He was one of those people you wanted to see because he would always have a smile and a story. But he was obviously modest because many of his achievements were new to me when I read them in the obituary. On behalf of all his U of T fraternity brothers our deepest condolences to the whole Liddle family.

Donna and I were very saddened to learn of Dave's sudden passing. We send our special thoughts and condolences to Wendy and Dave's family at this sad time. We met Dave and Wendy through mutual friends at Cornville, Arizona. Dave invited us many times to hike to some of his favorite places around Sedona. His love of the outdoors was evident from the beginning. Dave and Wendy invited us into their wonderful home in the desert to enjoy Dave's stories about their travels far away and at home. Dave is a special fellow who we will remember fondly over a glass of red wine at Harry's Hideaway, next time we visit Arizona.

For Wendy and all of David's family our heartfelt condolences. David has been the best of all possible friends for us over a 40 year period. His death creates an inconsolable loss for us. I worked closely with David on the Board of the Northern Ontario tourist Outfitters Assn. and subsequently with the insurance company we helped create and he managed. We were still board members with the present owners - the Optimum Group. One makes very few really close friends in a lifetime. We were honoured to be able to have David as such a very special friend.

To the entire Liddle family - I had the honour of working with Dave, on countless occasions, when I transferred to the President's Office at Nipissing University. I can clearly remember a number of committees I worked on in which he was involved. Some dealt with very sensitive matters. He had integrity and honour. For that, he got respect. But best of all, he had the greatest smile. It lit up his face. I will miss him. My sincere condolences.
