Obituary of George Wallace Swan
George Wallace Swan
A fine gentleman, a loving father and grandfather, George went home to heaven in the early morning of December 18, 2014. Lifelong partner for 67 years to the late June Swan, father to the late Peter Swan (Nici) of B.C. and to daughter Janet Taylor of North Bay. Also sadly missed by his grandchildren Nathan Taylor (Karina) of AB and Theresa Swan (Mark) of B.C. and great grandson Christopher Taylor.
George looked forward to heaven all his life and his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ was his rock. Against all odds he lived through accidents early in life and went on to take on many ventures and hobbies. He moved from his job at the CNR in North Bay in the 50’s, buying a garage in Sundridge which became a Ford dealership until the 70’s when they started an antique store. Moving on to Collingwood he transformed an old Y building into an apartment building as well as being a realtor there.
George enjoyed sailing, playing piano, cabinetry and painting was a pilot, and excelled at all. All who knew George were in awe of his positive attitude and quick sense of humour. He remained active all his life, retaining his independence and was faithful to God, family and friends unwaveringly. We were blessed by his presence in our lives.
Friends may call at MARTYN FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 from 1:00 pm until the time to celebrate George’s life at 2:30 pm in the funeral chapel. Interment to follow at Barrie Union Cemetery on a later date. Online condolences may be offered at www.martynfh.com
