Obituary of Joan Anne Dillabough

DILLABOUGH – Joan Anne Born Christmas Day 1933 in White River, Ontario. Joan was predeceased by her beloved husband Bill of 50 years. She passed away peacefully at the North Bay Regional Health Centre in the early morning hours of December 10, 2014 with her loving daughter Ruth by her side. She is remembered always as a devoted mother to her three daughters, Patricia (Dan), Betty (Chris) and Ruth (Dan) and she will be missed by her grandchildren, Andrew, Robin, Brian and Jenna. Joan was the daughter of Clarence Cottom and Ann Pickering who predeceased her. She is survived by her siblings, Margie Leadbetter of Sault Ste. Marie and her brother John Cottom of White River and predeceased by her brother Harry. She is fondly remembered by Bill’s remaining siblings, Margaret, Doris and Johnny. She is remembered by many loving nieces and nephews from both her and Bill’s families. Joan was a homemaker and she was always there for Bill and her daughters. She was a talented piano player and knitter and many family and friends were the recipients of her talents. She enjoyed playing bridge and volunteer work. She volunteered at the North Bay Regional Health Centre and Meals on Wheels and she always knit items for the church bazaar. Joan loved spending summers at the family cottage that she grew up with in White River. She maintained many long term friendships from her home town. She was even able to have a short stay there this past summer where the skies are blue the blueberries are big and the beaches are sandy. In keeping with her wishes cremation has taken place. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Friday afternoon and evening 2 – 4 & 7 – 9pm. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held in St. john’s Anglican church at 3:00pm on Saturday December 13, 2014. If desired donations to the charity of your choice, the North Bay Regional Health Centre or St. John’s Anglican Church operating fund will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
